FAQ
Answers about the comic, memberships, and the Montashka Mail Club. Still stuck? Contact us.
How does the Montashka Mail Club work?
You join the club and 2–6 weeks later we send you an envelope filled with goodies from the comic Don't Borrow Trouble. It's a monthly subscription, so you'll be charged monthly and receive your mail each month after the 15th. You can cancel anytime.
What's the difference between the mail clubs?
We want everyone to be part of our community, no matter where you live! To make that possible, the mail club is split into two tiers — the Fan Club and the Collectors Club.
- Fan Club (Worldwide): Available globally. The EU and some other regions recently enacted strict packaging laws that impose heavy fees on shipped merchandise. To avoid this, the Fan Club contains strictly flat, paper-based items with writing on them. Customs in most countries classifies this as “correspondence” (letter mail) rather than merchandise, which exempts it from those packaging laws — so we can safely ship it worldwide!
- Collectors Club (US only): Unfortunately this tier isn't available internationally. Because it includes physical merchandise such as art prints and stickers, it can't be classified as correspondence. Shipping it globally would trigger large customs fees and complex packaging laws that are impossible for us to maintain.
- US subscribers: Your shipping is completely unaffected — you can freely choose either tier.
We've worked very hard to put together a package that avoids additional fees. If by some chance your country charges a fee when your letter arrives, you'll need to cover that fee. Thank you for understanding :)
What's the deadline to join? What's the schedule?
- The cut-off date is the last day of each month by 12:00 am.
- We print and assemble all letters and goodies during the first two weeks of the new month (the 1st to the 14th).
- We mail all monthly envelopes around the 15th of the month.
Example timeline
- Sign up by January 31st → your envelope is prepared in the first half of February and ships around February 15th (about 2 weeks from sign-up).
- Sign up on February 1st → you missed the January 31st cut-off, so your first envelope is prepared for the March cycle and ships around March 15th (about 6 weeks from sign-up).
How long until my mail arrives?
- USA: typically 1–5 days.
- Canada & Mexico: typically 7–14 days.
- UK & Europe: typically 10–21 days.
- Australia, New Zealand & Asia: typically 2–4 weeks.
This really is snail mail — but good things come to those who wait :)
- No tracking numbers: to keep costs low, there are no tracking numbers on the envelopes. This is old-style letter shipping — it arrives without warning, but we'll let you know when the club mail has shipped.
- Customs & local transit: occasionally an envelope gets held up at a regional customs office or hits a local postal backlog, stretching delivery to 4–6 weeks in rare cases.
- Holiday buffer: mail sent during the November and December holiday cycles can face severe congestion, often adding an extra week or two. We'll try to send holiday mail out early whenever possible.
What if my mail gets lost or damaged?
If your mail hasn't arrived within 6 weeks, send us a message and we'll send a replacement. Send us a photo of any damaged mail and we'll send a replacement for that too.
How do I read the comic?
Head to the comic and sign in with your account. New pages go to club members first; everyone else can read each page free a little later.
Do I have to pay to read?
You can make a free account and read each page once it opens to everyone. Club Members (from the Scout Club up) read every new page the moment it lands. See the tiers →
What happens to my access if I cancel?
You keep your early access until the end of the period you've already paid for — nothing cuts off mid-month.
